My Megan Dresses

Hello Sewcialists,

Its been a while and I have made some good progress with my sewing and I’m so excited about my growing skills in handling fabrics. I made two dresses from Tilly Walnes’s book – Love at First Stitch and I absolutely love them. I already wore the red hounds tooth dress and got so many compliments. The empire waistline and the puff sleeves are so flattering and I didn’t make any major changes to the patterns.

without further ado,Here are the newly sewn beauties in my closet…

The first one is this cherry red hounds-tooth fabric, which is a 100% cotton voile that I used to make the wearable toile, but it ended up becoming a well sewn garment. I fully lined the dress with a salmon pink cotton polyester. Both the fabrics were in my stash and finally I added a red bead necklace to the neckline. I initially wanted to sew it onto the dress but then decided otherwise.

For the second dress I used a Navy Blue polka dot cotton stretch fabric that was also in my stash and it didn’t need any lining. I’m planning to wear it with my Ruby shoes and My Ruby woo lipstick from Mac. I will upload a picture when I do wear it.

The pattern – Megan Dress from the book Love at first stitch

The fabric – Red hounds-tooth – Cotton / Navy Polka dot – Cotton Stretch

Sewing time  – 7-8 hours per dress

I can see a few more of these dresses in the near future, most probably another one in a pink cotton eyelet fabric or a black eyelet fabric. Tilly’s book is definitely a must buy. I enjoyed every second of making this dress and the instructions are clear and pretty and easy to use.

till next time…

Love, Ludeé
