The Birthday Dress

Hello Sewcialists,

This year I finally took the plunge to make a special birthday dress, and  I am so proud of what I created. I used a crushed satin in the trendy color of oxblood and made a maxi dress with an elaborate shoulder embellishment. Without further ado here’s my beautiful birthday dress…

The Dress was inspired by the DIY maxi dress tutorial by MimiG. I bought the fabric from a famous fabric market in Sri Lanka – Pamunuwa about five years ago. I didn’t add lining for this dress but if I’m making it again I will be adding lining for the bodice part. That will give a much neater finish on the edges.

I wore this dress for a wedding and wore a custom made gold teardrop necklace and earrings from Raja Jewellers which perfectly complimented the gold and pearl appliqué on the shoulder.

Hope you all like it as much as I loved making it! Happy birthday to me! Till Next time…
